Feeling too stressed? Here are 6 tips to ease your stress level !

Stress is a natural psychological and physical reaction to a situation in which a person is unable to cope with specific demands and events. Some type of stress excites you and motivates you to accomplish your day-to-day activities. But, acute or chronic stress is hard to deal with and takes a toll on our mental and physical health.

Here are a few simple and effective tips you can start with to manage your stress levels:

1. One task at a time: Even though multitasking is a demand of the workplace, juggling different work tasks can leave you feeling disoriented, less productive, and mentally exhausted. Aim to finish one task at a time.

2. Set Boundaries: Many people feel guilt or bad to say 'No' to others for which they either have the right reasons or they are not just ready. Maintaining a healthy boundary in work and personal life indicates mutual respect and provides balance for a healthier, happier lifestyle.

3. Choose SMART over STRESS: You always don't need to follow an elaborated or perfect route for finishing every work. Prioritize and pare down your to-do list. If you don't have the mental energy to complete a certain task, try to do it later rather draining yourself.

4. Practice deep breathing: Deep breathing is a powerful technique to calm your tense nerves and reduce stress. In breathwork, take a deep breath in for a count of five seconds, hold the breath for two seconds and exhale for a count of five seconds. Keep repeating it for 5 to 10 minutes.

5. Connect with your people: We, humans, are social beings, and we desire connections. Foster relationships that facilitate healthy communication and boundaries. You can start connecting with like-minded communities where you share the same interests or hobbies.

6. Look at the big picture: When you find yourself in stressful situations, try to think if this is going to matter in the next 1 or 5 years. Most of us have the tendency to stress a lot over minor details and crib on situations that are not in our control. Zoom out from the situation and ask yourself to look through a broader perspective.

Over the past few decades, the health issues related to stress have progressed. It’s better to start working on it right away because putting your well-being at risk is not worth anything.
