Overthinking isn’t the actual issue most of the time. It is an indication of a larger issue that has remained unaddressed over a long period of time. Let’s understand the underlying problems that stem from Overthinking.
1. Stress
When there are so many things going on in your head, it is only natural to begin overthinking. A turbulent mind can only host thoughts that are tangled. Stress could accumulate when there is too much or too less on your plate. Stress is inevitable in your formative years, but yes, stress is manageable. When you learn to handle your stress better, you wouldn’t find yourself overthinking anymore.
2. Anxiety
Anxiety is not the root cause of just overthinking alone. It is found to cause a whole lot of physical and mental health issues. Constant worry and fear are a great climate in which overthinking thrives. Eliminate anxiety and watch overthinking fall apart from your life.
3. Self Doubt
This is a major issue that is hindering the progress of every individual. A constant underestimation of oneself and their capabilities becomes an obvious origin of overthinking. Self-doubt is the greatest hindrance to personal excellence. Believe in your capabilities like you would believe in your favorite cricketer.
So, how do we fix it?
1. Journal
Declutter your mind by writing it down in your own private journal. A journal could also be in the form of an anonymous Instagram account. Write down everything that bothers you. That will clear the air for you. Once the mind is free of load, it can think of the different opportunities and solutions that prevail.
2. Find good friends
A good conversation with your friend will make your thoughts less chaotic, big time. Just like how you would understand even complex concepts when your friend teaches you, your best friend could talk you out of your anxiety. Find a good friend and more importantly, be one, to get over overthinking.
3. Meditation
Meditation isn’t sitting in one place like an old sage and concentrating on breathing alone. If you are fully alive and conscious in the present, then you are already meditating. Watch a movie, listen to your favorite song, run, jump, skip, jog but do it all, one at a time, without thinking of anything else.
Thinking of where to start? Start somewhere before your thoughts spiral up. You are Younique.
