Say these 7 things in your self-introduction to impress your interviewer

In any interview you go for, there will be an obvious complementary question coming from the interviewer "Kindly tell us a bit about yourself" and the way you respond to this one question will bring out your complete interview.

Self-introduction moments are crucial for any interview because they can either make or break your first impression. Most people in their first interview give haphazard introductions and eventually miss out on important details.

Here are 7 points to remember that will help avoid fumble, freeze or forget in your self-introduction:

1. Your name

The formal way to start your introduction is by saying “Hi. My name is ___”, and not "Hi! As you know my name". It's an inappropriate way of introducing and the interviewer may find this answer egoistic or rude.

2. Born and brought up city

Followed by name, say the name of the city you were born and raised in.

3. Current city

If you have been living in a different city for education, then don't forget to mention your current name of the city. (Note- This point is not applicable for people who are presently staying in the same city of born and brought up).

4. Higher Education

One of the common misunderstandings people have is to assume higher education with Class 12th and they end up speaking about it instead of university education.

If you've recently completed school, then talk about what you are pursuing now.

When speaking about higher education, it should follow the pattern of:

-Year

-Course

-College

-University

-City

(Note- If your university name is giving a hint of the city name, then refrain from mentioning the university location.)

5. Skills and Experience

The interviewer or employer wants to know your experience relevant to the field. If you are a fresher, an answer like "I'm good at business development and sales which I learned in 3 months internship tenure in X company" will help.

6. Family Background

Share the information if you come from a business or service background. For example, if you belong to both, then you can say that "I come from both business and service backgrounds and that is why I know the importance of both wealth and time management. Talk and temper your answers accordingly.

7. Hobbies

While talking about your hobby, always add an extra edge to it like how it helps improve you and makes you flexible or productive.

Your interview is derived from the introduction. So don't forget to maintain a positive and cheerful attitude throughout the time.
